The school canteen is an iconic experience when growing up in school, whether it be running at full speed when the bell rings to skip the line or asking a mate to spot you a snack!

What was your lunch order at your school canteen?

What does it mean to be a role model?

Nav one of our facilitators shares a story about how a boy dreams to be a leader in his community and how moments later it became a reality.

Before our workshops, 1 in 5 boys tell us they feel alone.
AI companions promise connection without risk. Without rejection. Without awkwardness.

At The Man Cave, we focus on helping boys navigate the messiness of real relationships where growth and understanding happen.

Anonymous Questions is something we drop into parts of a workshop.

The boys can write anything down, no names, no pressure. It means the real questions come out. The ones they might not ask out loud in front of their mates.

This one was simple: “Do you like Andrew Tate?”

Rhys and Leeson from the squad slow it down and unpack how echo chambers work, why some messages feel appealing, and what it actually looks like to choose better role models.

Because the goal isn’t to tell boys what to think.

It’s to give them the tools to think for themselves.

What makes someone a good role model, in your eyes?

It can be easy to miss what is going on in a young boy’s life when we only see what's on the outside.

This story from Darcy gives us a glimpse into what's behind the mask and an important reminder that a single moment can be the beginning of something new.

We matched with the Australian Government.
But we’re not here for something casual.

This Valentine’s Day, our non-negotiables are pretty simple:
- Every school should have a mental health and character development program for boys.
- We need real world prevention infrastructure for under 16s, not just online regulation.
- Every boy deserves access to credible, positive male role models.

Prevention works best when it’s early, consistent, and available wherever a boy grows up.

Support wasn’t just hard to find growing up. It was hundreds of kilometres away.

This is Linds’ story of growing up in rural Victoria, where community was strong but support, especially mental health support, often wasn’t close by.

Rural boys are carrying the same pressures as everyone else. Rigid masculinity. Social media. Uncertainty about the future. But with fewer services and fewer safe spaces to talk.

That’s why we’re raising funds through Lighten the Load: Back to School. So boys growing up where support is scarce still get the tools, language and space to not carry it alone.

If you can, donate or share. Link in bio. 💛

Boys don’t need perfect role models, they need present ones.

Ged Moriarty our Research and Evaluations extraordinaire had their debut speaking on Life Matters (ABC Radio National) alongside Dr James Smith, a researcher from Flinders University & Former NRL player Luke Bateman having a yarn about what is shaping boys today.

Gazz and Rhys (two amazing facilitators) are answering some anonymous questions from the boys, and I am sure this is one we can all relate too

Have you ever felt anxious returning back to school?

Back to school hits differently for parents.

In our parent keynotes, we hear the same things again and again. Relief. Worry. Guilt. Hope. All at once. And underneath it all, there’s a common truth:

It’s not “I need him to get better marks.”
It’s “I don’t want to lose him.”

If that’s you right now, you’re not alone.
And you don’t have to carry it quietly.

Sending love to all the parents out there as school starts 💛

Rhys is stoked to be kicking off workshops this year and shares with us both what he is seeing with the boys and what he is looking forward too!

Bring on 2026!
